Psychotic disorders are actually more common in the elderly than they are in younger people, but paradoxically the rates of schizophrenia in older adults are actually lower. which type of psychotic disorder is seen in higher rates in the elderly that would make the overall rate of psychotic disorders higher in this population?

    The answer to this question is Delusional disorder. A delusional disorder is also known as a paranoid disorder. It is a mental illness where in a person does not know how to differentiate what is real from not. This is often called as psychosis which makes the situation in an exaggerated state.
