A short term goal is one that you plan on achieving in the near future. For example you might want to pass the semester with straight As that would be considered a short term goal because it will be achieved soon. While a Long term goal is one that will take time such as "life goals" in the sense that they will take much longer to achieve like owing your own on home or graduating college.
