Restaurant is a good example for where statistics can be used. We can categorize menu items and determine what is most popular on the menu by doing so we can then understand and what is not selling very well or what the most wasteful because it's not selling and perhaps remove this item from the menu. By knowing what is popular it means we can track the item and know when to reorder. It's a good idea to collect data over the months and years so that you can estimate what sales will be like also.
