Why do so many of the people of India live in the Ganges River Valley?

The answer is: The river provides fertile soil for farming

Up to this day, Agricultural products have been one of the biggest commodities from India. Since many of their citizens rely on agricultural activities in order to sustain their living, they need to live in a region that is close from a source of water, such as the region around the Ganges River Valley.
