    VP or Voges-Proskauer test, detects acetoin in a bacterial broth culture.

    This test depends on the digestion of glucose to acetylmethylcarbinol. If glucose starts to break down, it will react with two reagents of this test and form a red color. A red color indicates a positive result and a yellow-brown color indicates a negative result.
