Jean-Jacques Rousseau (1712-1778) was an Age of Enlightenment French philosopher and writer.

He claimed we were inherently good but tainted by social evils. We are raised in a stable and genetically good condition. He published the Social Contract, stating that "Man was born free, but he's in chains everywhere." He claimed that individuals should have a common desire or will, and what's beneficial to society and the whole world. Rousseau wrote Emile, he based it the on natural education values. Some individuals believed that people were evil, that they were not inherently evil, but that they could be transformed into evil.
