Many more people in the US are likely to die in an vehicle crash than on a commercial flight covering the same distance, however, people very often assume that flying is more dangerous than driving. What is the type of heuristic people use when they make this assumption?

    availability heuristic

    Explanation:

    What is availability heuristic?

Availability heuritic occurs when our we make judgements on a current situation based on our preexisting ideas that we relate to that situation without having enough evidence or information.

We use whatever comes to our mid that we can associate with that situation.

Without facts we believe that we may be in so much danger if we fly in the air than when we are on the ground, this belief we have created in our mind has become the first thing that comes to our mind when we think of traveling with flights.
