Has our culture socialized you to be happy or has it socialized you in a way that limits your happiness?

In the past, the cultural set-up were generally conservative and people lived their lives being scared of the fact that what other people would think. Conservative social set-ups are common even today but nowadays people are more entitled to live their lives according to their will. The culture of humanism has become more common and allowed people to be happy and live their lives according to the choices and happiness.
