Due to their Judeo-Christian spiritual heritage.

    Explanation:

Even though the Israelites were small in size compared to the large, dominating nations in the near east, they were able to greatly impact western civilization because they had a spiritual heritage (of Judeo-Christian values) which was an important pillar of western civilization.
