    Uncertainty reduction theory is also called as the initial interaction theory. It is a kind of communication theory from post-positivist tradition. It was developed by the Charles Berger and the Richard Calabrese in 1975. Uncertainty reduction theory is one of the communication theories which specifically looks into initial interaction between the people prior to actual communication process. This theory asserts notion that people when interacting need information about other party so that the uncertainty can be reduced. In gaining the information, people would be predict other's behavior and the resulting actions and according to theory, all of these are crucial in development of the relationship.
