    British colonies were established in North America. They were called the 13 British colonies under the service of the crown of Britain. Mane people left England due to religious persecution and problems with the Church of England such as the Puritans and sailed to North America to start a new life. Most of them were farmers that established settlements along the East Coast of North America. French colonist were mostly traders and did not establish a larger population with many permanent settlements such as the British did. They wanted new lands to get the raw materials and send them back to France
