What factors caused the British to allow the colonists to operate with little interference between 1607 and 1763?

    Answer: The correct answer is : British needed colonies' loyalty to counter threat of French in Canada and colonies agreed only if they got self-rule and protection from French in return. Orders from monarch took 2 months to arrive. Colonial legislatures were in position to deal with everyday problems.
