    Because Portugal colonized Brazil. Brazil, was populated by an indigenous people at the time. Their languages combined.

    Brazil was colonized by Portugal. At the time, there were many indigenous tribes in the country, as well as immigrants from other regions of the world. This resulted in a different speech ofthe language.
