    Gerontology is the study of the aging process, old age, and the problems of old people.

    Sociologists are interested in social gerontology because it studies and works with older adults while also educating, researching and advocating for the elderly. These sectors are a significant piece of sociology work in which they as a whole study: society, patterns and/or social relationships, social interaction, and culture.
