Soil in new england is good for farming, so agriculture is the main industry in the northeast?

    Not necessarily. The thing that the north had a lot was wood so a lot of things that they did was things like shipbuilding, export lumber, fish, raise livestock and a little bit of agriculture. Yes, they did use it in a way, but it was not the most important way.
