Children did not wear any clothing until they turned 6 years old, The wealthy wore soft linen made from thin fibers and the poorer people wore rougher linen clothing made of thicker fibers. Most went barefoot and although their attire was very plain they still wore very elaborate jewelry including heavy bracelets, earrings and necklaces. Hair and make up were very important, the wealthy wore wigs while most cut their hair short or even shaved it off. Many wore heavy eye paint called "Kohl" and covered their skin with creams and oils to protect against the hot sun.
