    The 10th amendment limited the power of the federal government by saying that powers not specifically stated in the Constitution would be delegated to the states.

    Another limitation on the federal government is that it couldn't prohibit religion and speech (1st amendment)

    It also couldn't unreasonably search property without a warrant (4th amendment).
