How is the first amendment limited and protected

There's actually a long, long list of limitations. First, it's important to understand that you have zero ability to require anybody else to publish your work or otherwise pay attention to you. "Freedom of speech" is about the government's ability to suppress your speech, not about anybody else. So if Apple refuses to carry your songs on iTunes, that's a business decision they are entitled to make. It's not censorship.
