The Electoral College is the system that is in place that elects the President of the United States every four years. The electoral college is made up of electors who are chosen by popular vote in each state and they are the ones who eventually vote for the president and the vice president. Each elector pledges support for a candidate and if the candidate wins the popular vote in that state these electors then vote for the candidate in the electoral college. More than 270 votes in the electoral college signifies a victory for that candidate in the election.
