After the Earth stopped shaking in March of 2013, scientists discovered that the planet's rotation had sped up, causing the length of a day to increase. Not all earthquakes affect the planet in such a dramatic way, but they do cause changes to the Earth's crust.

Some of the common impacts of earthquakes include structural damage to buildings, fires, damage to bridges and highways, initiation of slope failures, liquefaction, tsunami, etc.

These areas are affected due to the earthquakes shaking up entire towns and cities which makes them fall to ruins and costs a lot to repair. A lot of casualties also happen during earthquakes which affects entire communities
