    Holocrine is a gland whose secretions are produced in the cytoplasm of the cell. The secretions are released when the plasma membrane of the cell ruptures. The secretion on release destroys the cell and results in the secretion of the product into the lumen. Example of a holocrine gland is sebaceous gland.
