In general, the reactants and products of a chemical reaction are usually written in words.

Then, we convert them to their corresponding chemical symbols.

In a chemical equations, the reactants are usually written on the left and the products are written on the right.

We then add any conditions to the equation (heat, pressure ... etc) on the arrow joining the reactants and products.

    Finally, we balance the equation.
