Why is hydrogen a non-metal?

    Hydrogen is in group 1 of periodic table because it has the same 1 electron as the alkali metals. hydrogen differs from metals from several ways. the alkali metals lose electrons to form cations.

    Because its a diatomic gas ... The only reason its on that side and not with the nobel gases is because it reacts with other substances. Where as the Nobel Gases do not ... because they are already stable
