    The 1960’s does represent a time of progress in American society based on the laws passed during this era. The following are just a couple examples.

    A) Voting Rights Act - This law outlaws poll taxes and other obstacles that previously prevented African Americans from voting in elections.

    B) Civil Rights Act - This outlawed discrimination in the workplace. This federal law made it illegal to discriminate against an employee or potential employee on the basis of race, gender, color, national origin, or religion.
