An airplane, flying at an altitude of 15,000 feet above sea level, flies directly above a submarine that is traveling at a depth of 1,250 feet below sea level. What is the distance between the airplane and the submarine?

    15,000 + 1,250=16,250 add the distance above ground and under water to get the total distance.
